Melecio Xecchay is accused of grabbing the left leg of a 17-year-old girl who was getting into her car parked in the Franklin Avenue parking lot across from Harris Road in Princeton around 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, DailyVoice.com reported.

Xecchay grabbed her leg in an apparent attempt to grab her buttocks and ran south through the parking lot toward Princeton Cemetery, police said.

He was arrested following an investigation by the Princeton Police Department’s Detective Bureau and charged with child endangerment and attempted criminal sexual contact, authorities said on Tuesday, June 7.

Xecchay — whose LinkedIn page lists him as the owner of a construction company — may be involved in numerous similar incidents dating back to 2015, including several in which the suspect approached the victim so immediately that they fell, according to NJ.com.

Xecchay was being held in the Mercer County Correctional Facility.

The incident remains under investigation, authorities said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Eric Dawson at (609) 921-2100 ext. 1832.
